RF-DASH Community of Practice on 4/3/2026 at 11am CST

The next RF-DASH Community Practice meeting is on April 3, 2026 from 11am to 12pm Central Time.
Hazardous materials (fuels, fertilizers, pesticides, etc.) have been common on many farm operations for decades. However, as farms have increased in size and complexity, the amounts and kinds of chemicals present have increased. Additionally, larger farms have led to increased roadway traffic, resulting in more hazardous materials being transported as a part of day-to-day farm operations. For the April 3rd RF-DASH Community of Practice, we will have Jim Volkosh present on hazardous materials in agricultural settings. Volkosh will cover HAZMAT basics and why this matters for rural first responders. As a part of his talk, he’ll walk-through several real-world examples of hazardous materials incident scenarios. These scenario-based discussions will provide the audience an opportunity to problem solve and think through response considerations. Jim Volkosh is a veteran of the fire service and an experienced fire instructor. He served two terms as Chief of the Middleport (NY) Fire Department, previously served as fire coordinator for Niagara County,  and currently serves as Captain of the Niagara County HAZMAT squad.
