Illustrated steps for using PremisesMapper
Overview
For optimal use, please use a desktop computer with a mouse.

This online application offers an interactive way to visually map your premises. A step-by-step guide allows you to define the premises, add applicable shapes and symbology, and generate a printable PDF.
IMPORTANT: Not all steps are required for every operation. After defining a premises, you may complete the steps in any order and map only the items relevant to your operations. New users or those unfamiliar with biosecurity premises mapping are encouraged to follow the steps sequentially to build familiarity with the tools.
Locate Premises
To begin mapping a premises, you can locate it using the address search field. As you begin typing, a list of matching addresses will appear. Click on the correct address to zoom into the location automatically.
Line Drawing
To draw lines on the map (e.g., LOS, Access Points and Routes):
- Select the desired line item from the menu.
- LEFT-CLICK the map to place the starting point, then move your mouse to create the line.
- LEFT-CLICK to create another point to continue the line from that point.
- DOUBLE-CLICK to finish placing the line on the map.
Marker Placement
To place marker icons (e.g., Site Entry, Animal Housing):
- Select the desired marker icon from the menu.
- LEFT-CLICK at the desired location on the map to place the icon.
Polygon Drawing
To draw filled polygons on the map (e.g., Parking Area, Water Body):
- Select the desired polygon item from the menu.
- LEFT-CLICK the map to place the starting point, then move your mouse to begin drawing the perimeter.
- LEFT-CLICK to create another point to continue the perimeter from that point. The shape will automatically fill in as you continue drawing.
- DOUBLE-CLICK to finish placing the polygon on the map.
Editing Shapes
To edit previously placed shapes and markers:
- LEFT-CLICK on the previously placed object.
- LEFT-CLICK AND DRAG to relocate the shape.
- For lines, rectangles and poloygons you can LEFT-CLICK them a second time to edit the shape points.
- To delete the shape, press DEL on keyboard. To exit shape mode, press ESC.
Adding Labels
To add a label with arrow, select from any of the colored label options located under Step 18:
- LEFT-CLICK the spot on the map that the label arrow should point to.
- Move your mouse to adjust the line positioning of the arrow.
- DOUBLE-CLICK to confirm the arrow and line placement.
- Enter the LABEL TEXT in the prompt that appears and then click OK to complete the label.
Printing the Map
To generate a printable PDF of the mapped premises, click on the Print icon:
- Pan and zoom the view so that the desired bounds of your map are within the dotted white border.
- Fade Map: You can adjust the opacity of the map by enabling Fade Map and adjusting the slider.
- Icon Size: You can scale the size of icons using this slider.
- Label Size: You can scale the text size of labels using this slider.
- Generate:Click the generate button to output a PDF that can be distributed or printed as needed.
